I went to pick up my friend Deejay Julicio from the Sea-Tac airport around 11am. Since he was only going to be in Seattle for one day we decided to attempt a mountain of travels around the city.

Casual Industrees

Julicio visits Casual Industrees (L to R: Chris Tagge, Julicio, Dan Reid)

First stop was West Seattle and the Casual Industrees house. I wanted to show Julicio what the local art scene is like here in Seattle. The boys at Casual are producing some of Seattle’s most fun and innovative clothing designs out of Dan Reid’s house near Alki. They have a full screenprint operation up and running, with the ability to receive, design, screenprint, and ship all in one location.

Deejay Julicio visits the grave of Jimi Hendrix

Someone at the Casual house told him that Jimi Hendrix was buried nearby in Renton. As a musician you can’t pass through the city without visiting the grave of Jimi Hendrix. According to Julicio, “It’s like visiting Paris and not visiting Jim Morrison’s grave.” Kinda creepy, we both agreed, but we decided to visit for the adventure. Plus I’d never even been there and its a local landmark. It turned out to be a very classy memorial made of marble located at Greenwood Cemetary.

We headed to downtown Seattle so I could take him to my favorite happy hour sushi spot called Umi Sake House. We ate a couple Seattle Rolls, mmmmm, then went to scope the Pike Place Market.

Gum Wall Seattle

Gum Wall Seattle

I showed him the infamous Gum Wall. There is a gumball machine there and by my estimates they have sold well over a million gumballs. There is hardly a spot to put gum anymore, there are so many pieces all over the wall.

We went through the waterfront district and up to the Seattle Center. There is all kinds of cool stuff to do down there like the Science Center, the Seattle Skate Park and the International Fountain. Key Arena was hosting a live taping of the X-Factor TV show and all kinds of people were filing in.

By this time we started to get ready for a set at Ibiza Nightclub where Julicio was opening with MIC T at an album release party for 206 entertainment. After great performances by the two, we headed out to Bellingham to get prepared for Friday’s Summer Hiphop Kickoff party.

I would like to introduce my friend Deejay Julicio to the peeps of the World. We met in Santiago, Chile through a mutual friend pro snowboarder Sebastian Camus. I was down there at the end of the South American snowboard season and we decided it would be fun to throw a party celebrating the change of weather to springtime. The party we threw was called Off The Snow to The Beach.

I edited up a bunch of the most recent footy from my collection and we got 1000 of our closest friends together at a club called Subterraneo. Deejay Julicio slayed it on the turntables. Ever since then I’ve wanted him to play a concert in Bellingham to show my friends back home how to party Chilean style. Now I finally have the pleasure of hosting him for the Summer Hiphop Kickoff at the Wild Buffalo on July 1st. Unfortunately we can’t party at the clubs till 8am in Whatcom County, otherwise I’m sure he’d play all night!
