I had the privilege of working with the artist Son Duong yesterday. He asked Nick Ennen and I to come down to Seattle and film some behind-the-scenes footage of a couple magazine ad photo shoots he was doing with photographer Dan Manning. Son also had two gorgeous models there to participate in the shoot: Brenna Nickels and Brooke James.
Our first stop was Jewel Box Cafe in the Seattle Northgate Mall area. Its a pretty cool spot to lounge, with a rustic feel. Its a good place to kick back with coffee, tea, smoothies, bubble tea and crepes. The idea was to shoot a photo for an ad for Son of a Gun, the art company Son Duong runs.
The second stop was Acme Tattoo in Kent, Washington. Its a large shop with some cool owners that has a unique feel. We set up near the tattoo station in the middle of an array of art on wakeboards and skateboards. Everyone was discussing what tattoo we would get next and if we would even get one at all. In this location we were trying to establish the Skullcandy feel, and it seems to be the perfect location for it.
We had a great time, everyone got a pair of Skullcandy Headphones, and now there’s plenty of photos and footage to edit. Great work by Manning Shredtography getting those photos captured. Soon we will post our behind the scenes video of this photo shoot, but for now you will just have to enjoy these retrocamera photos from my phone.
